Travel Notes - The Pig, Near Bath

Nestled in the folds of the Mendip Hills, The Pig Hotel near Bath is a charming countryside retreat in the heart of rural Somerset.

Complete with onsite vegetable patch, pigs and chickens, anything that can not be foraged or found within the grounds is sourced from local suppliers within a 25 mile radius.

Food is served in the greenhouse restaurant, there is a well stocked bar with various home made infusions (I had a great bloody mary with horseradish vodka) and numerous drawing rooms and lounge areas with roaring fires and comfy arm chairs to relax in.

Rooms are decorated in signature shabby chic style with beautiful stripped back floorboards, some with four poster beds and claw foot baths and Bamford body products.

To get a true sense of the area pull on some wellies and take a walk a little further afield, we took the 2 hour pub walk to nearby local The Compton Inn.

Travel Notes - A night at The Laindons

In just 1 hour 44 mins from Clapham Junction train station you can magically transport yourself to the seaside town of Hastings.

The Laindons b&b was once a former coaching house in a beautiful Georgian grade II listed building with original features and a touch of scandinavian style.

The perfect place for an escape by the sea.

In the ground floor shop you will find No23 coffee bar and roastery,
this is open to everyone, guests and passers by alike are invited to stop for coffee and can also purchase some to take home.

Room number 1, at the top of the building

A place to watch the world go by with magnificent views over Hastings Old Town

A lovely corner tub for a nice long soak
A seat made for two, over looking High Street

the cutest welcome chocolate on my pillow
High Street, our quaint address for the night
Surprise scones were left in our room while we took a stroll down to the beach.

The guest lounge

breakfast is served 8.30-10am so plenty of time to lie in.
The ingredients are locally sourced where possible from nearby farms, butchers and jam producers, a nice touch in supporting the community

Travel Notes - A night at the Beckford Arms

The Beckford Arms, a pub of pure perfection with fabulous food and cosy rooms.
Located on the edge of the Fonthill Estate, Tisbury, South Wiltshire, you can be here in under 2 hours from London by car or by train.

Picture perfect Tisbury Village

A midnight soak

Good morning Wiltshire! A room with a view.

Swan lake. Fonthill Estate

The doorway to happiness - booze, baths and bloody good burgers!

post lunch slump by the fire

THE PIG, BROCKENHURST

I celebrated a recent milestone birthday with a night at The Pig Hotel, Brockenhurst.

A hip country hideaway set in the heart of the New Forest with gorgeous grounds and fabulous food influenced by forest and coast.

I have always adored Autumn and especially love being outdoors during this season so I was in my element here.

Wellies on, wandering the gardens, greenhouse and nearby country lanes alongside roaming wild ponies, the smell of the smoke house drifting through the crisp air, cosying up by the log fire with a nice glass of wine, it was perfection.

Is this not just the prettiest bar that you ever did see?!
