Grey skies and drizzle on arrival but these cute little rainbow houses still look cheery! |
Fragility is an exhibition currently showing at Fabrica by Macedonian born artist Elpida Hadzi-Vasileva. |
If you haven't yet guessed the material shown in these pictures you would be forgiven for thinking it may be some kind of lace. Far from it, the material here is caul fat, a membrane that holds the vital organs together, transformed from a waste product of the pork industry, treated via a chemical process similar to embalming! Fabrica itself is housed in a grand old regency church, the installation has been hung in such a way that when the light shines through, the intended effect is that its ethereal appearance compares to the flash of light reportedly observed when close to death. Fascinating and strangely moving, go see if you can! Showing from 8th July to 23rd August 2015 free entry/donations welcome Fabrica Duke Street Brighton BN1 1AG fabrica.org.uk |
Only the brave are on the beach this afternoon! Stormy seas and windswept waves. |
A snug setting for supper, the cosy, candle lit Riddle and Finns nestled within the lanes offers fresh, locally sourced seasonal seafood and an extensive wine list. Thumbs up to the Brighton scallops with chilli and chorizo and this little fella pictured above - Singapore Chilli Crab. Riddle & Finns 12b, Meeting House Lane Brighton BN1 1HB riddleandfinns.co.uk |

Billies occupies a cute little corner spot in a residential area of Brighton. Friendly service and their famed house speciality hashes make this place a winner! I opted for the FarmHouse which was basically a delicious mountain of sautéed potato and onion, sausage, bacon, baked beans and mushrooms pan fried in butter then topped with a fried egg and grilled cheese. I managed to eat 50%! If you are really hungry in Brighton, THIS is the place to go! Billies 34, Hampton Place Brighton BN1 3DD billiescafe.co.uk |

As a magpie with an eye for anything gold and delicate I was drawn into Posh Totty for a peek at their lovely jewellery wares, however once stepping inside their Sydney Street flagship boutique I was all but ready to move in. The original old wooden floors and fireplace were just gorgeous and the soft pastel colour scheme with hints of copper accessories worked perfectly in this pretty seaside store.
